The Lecture Mode is a star touch feature that can be utilized only by the Moderator (i.e Leader). This feature cannot be managed via the Customer Portal. It can only be managed on the actual conference call. We have 2 versions of Lecture Mode which you can use as needed. Read on!
Lecture Mode - Version 1
The first version of Lecture Mode will mute everyone on the call, expect the Leader, but the Participants can unmute themselves as needed. This feature comes in handy if the Leader wishes to have silence on the call while speaking but is ok with allowing participants to unmute themselves now and then to either answer a question or chime in, etc.
While you are connected to the conference call as the Leader, you can press *5 on your touch tone at any time to initialize lecture mode. This will automatically mute all participant lines except the line of the Moderator. This helps improve audio clarity, especially for larger calls. To cancel, press *5. All lines will be unmuted except for those already muted by *6 (mute initialized by individual). As a best practice, it is recommended the Moderator make some form of announcement to the group on the call informing them the call is or soon will be put into Lecture Mode in case some participants are wondering why they cannot be heard.
Lecture Mode - Version 2
The second version of Lecture Mode will mute everyone on the call, expect the Leader, but the Participants cannot unmute themselves. This feature comes in handy if the Leader wishes to have silence on the call while speaking and does not want participants unmuting themselves.
While you are connected to the conference call as the Leader, you can press *51 on your touch tone at any time to initialize lecture mode. This will automatically mute all participant lines except the line of the Moderator. To cancel, press *51. All lines will be unmuted.
